Council met on January 8, 2025 for their regular meeting. The following issues of general interest were addressed:
- Council thanked the staff of the Public Works Department for the great job cleaning up after Monday’s snow storm.
- Discussion of renewal of annual service contracts related to Borough operations.
- Requirements for affordable housing in Avalon were addressed. Plans provide for the construction of affordable housing units in the B1 Business District. There have been no applications by any builder to develop the housing.
- The bidding process for managing the Sport’s Fishing Center will be discussed at the January 22nd Council meeting.
- Three members of the community raised objections to the renewal of a contract with Lomax Environmental Services on the grounds that Lomax is too builder friendly.
