Avalon Borough Council met for their regularly scheduled meeting on November 18, 2024.  The following issues of general interest were addressed at the meeting:

  1. Mayor McCorristin presented a proclamation to the Avalon/Stone Harbor Cross Country Team recognizing the efforts of the participants (fifty percent of the student body participated) as well as the contributions of the coaching staff.

  2. Ken Wiehl and Chuck O’Hara have been named as members of the Avalon Floodplain Management Committee.

  3. A new ordinance will require that all dumpsters departing Avalon (even if traveling through Avalon) must be covered in order to prevent any loss of debris along their route.

  4. Purchasing Agent Joe Clark reported on proposed bidding for the operation of the Sports Fishing Center. The goal is to award the bid on January 3, 2025.

  5. Recently the beach vehicle permit fee was raised to $50.00.  The dates have been changed to end on March 15th in order to comply with environmental regulations.
