Borough Council: February 10th

  • The recent Nor-Easter has caused considerable beach damage in the North End of Avalon. Therefore the back passing operation planned for this Spring will have to be more extensive than originally planned. This effort is further complicated by the limited access for the required heavy equipment to be moved onto the island. Bridge weight limitations mean that the Avalon Boulevard Bridge, currently under reconstruction, is the only bridge that can handle this heavy equipment. Concrete barriers now in place will have to be moved for the equipment to cross the bridge and this cannot be done until concrete has been poured. It is anticipated that this will not be until mid-April, so the back passing operation will begin later than originally planned.

  • The Garden Club Yard Sale is being planned for May 8, 2021, subject to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions in place at the time.

  • Cape May County has requested Council's endorsement for the project to improve Ocean Drive from 62nd Street through 80th Street.

  • Business Administrator Scott Wahl advised Council that the Borough is examining different methods for live streaming Council Meetings in the future with the goal of providing both audio and visual access for the public.
