Borough Council: October 13th
The meeting opened with a presentation to the winner of the 2020 Christmas Decorating competition in Avalon. The MacGregor's house at 230 37th Street was recognized with the presentation of a certificate by Council President Barbara Juvaitis. They had earlier been awarded with two Holiday Beach Tags for the Summer of 2021.
Lenore Tedesco, President of the Wetlands Institute, gave a presentation about the disposal of dredging waste from operations in the Back Bay area. Dr. Tedesco gave several alternative ways to utilize this waste in a productive and environmentally friendly way.
Revisions are being made to the Borough's Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual. Drafts are being provided to Council Members and a vote will be taken at the next Council Meeting on October 27th.
A Resolution was approved to provide a waiver for height limitations for the property at 198 73rd Street.
Council approved the awarding of a contract with Lenagan Plumbing and Heating for the Water Meter Replacement Program in the amount of $2,318,400.00.
It was announced that Avalon will be recognized by the Environmental Commission with an Achievement Award on October 22nd. The recognizes the public presentations given, during the summer, at Surfside Park and the Pollinator Garden.
