Borough Council: March 8

Council held the regularly scheduled session on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 and addressed the following topics:

  1. Donna Rothman, Chair of the Environmental Commission, and Craig Rothman presented the first Tree Inventory Report to the Council.  The Inventory covered a portion of the Borough and identified numbers and conditions of trees.  The Commission recommends that the Borough use the inventory as a management tool in the future.

  2. Recreation Director Chuck McDonnell gave Council a preview of the sports and educational camps to be conducted this coming summer.

  3. Fees/rates for tennis and pickleball will remain the same in 2023 as they were in 2022.

  4. Resident Chuck O'Hara commended the Emergency Services staff for the rapid and professional response to a family medical emergency involving a 94 year old female who was hospitalized and is now at home recovering.

  5. Distribution of the new trash and recycling cans is still on schedule for the first half of May.  People with mobility issues may opt for 35 gallon cans in place of the standard 75 gallon cans.  Additional cans are being ordered to cover this option.

  6. Information regarding the planned hydraulic beach fill can be found on the Borough website.  Starting dates have fluctuated over time due to weather and equipment issues, which may still impact the start date of the operation.
