Avalon Borough Council met for their regularly scheduled meeting on October 23, 2024.  The following issues of general interest were addressed at the meeting:

1. At the last Council meeting a closed session was held regarding reorganization of the Division of Construction Code Enforcement in order to increase the efficiency of  the Division.  Ed Dean will be the Plumbing Code Enforcement Officer, and Lisa Sasdelli will be the Fire Code Enforcement Officer.

2. The Borough has been participating in a New Jersey State Employee Health Care Insurance program during recent years.  Projected increases for 2025 have resulted in a search for a new insurer at a more manageable cost.  AmeriHealth has been selected as the new insurer.

3. There was some discussion about bids for street reconstruction.  Under consideration are the beach block of 38th Street, and 34th and 35th Streets between Ocean and Dune Drives.

4. Plans are being developed for a beach back passing operation for the Spring of 2025 in order to insure that beaches are in good shape for the 2025 summer season.
