Borough Council: October 11

Council held the regularly scheduled sessions on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. The following issues of interest were addressed:

  1. Mayor John McCorristin administered the oath of office to newly promoted Police SGT Pete Salvini.  Police Chief Jeffrey Christopher pinned the SGT's Badge on Officer Salvini.

  2. Asphalt Paving Systems has been awarded a contract for repairing the following Avalon Streets:  62nd, 6th, 17th, and Dune Drive.  Detailed maps can be found on the Borough's website at this link.  Work is scheduled to begin on October 12, 2023 with a completion date of April 25, 2024.

  3. Atlantic City Electric is conducting a tree trimming project.  Work will be done between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM and should be completed by Thanksgiving.

  4. Property owner Martha Wright requested information regarding plans for the site of the recently demolished library/school.  She noted that property owners in the area were concerned.  Scott Wahl explained that the Mayor has jurisdiction over all public land in the Borough, and that while no final decision for future use has been made, current plans are to utilize it for much needed parking.
