Avalon Senior Center Organization (ASCO)

The Avalon Senior Center Organization, ASCO, exists to promote the welfare of its members through mutually supportive social, educational, patriotic, cultural and physical activities. The center hosts many activities all year long and is dedicated to provide educational, interactive, social, and recreational activities for senior citizens who live and visit our community.  Members, 55 years old or older, participate in a variety of activities, with many held at the Avalon Senior Center meeting room located between the Avalon Borough Municipal Building and the Fire Station at 3100 Dune Drive.  If you have any questions, call Sue Keen at 609.967.5924.

Avalon Police Senior Alone Program

The Borough police offer a free service to residents of our community.  A participant receives a Knox Box to store a key to the property -- usually the front door.  Participants must call the Police Department daily prior to 11:00 AM to notify the Department that "all is well."  If there is no call to the police for a given day, an officer will check at the house, and may use the stored key to check inside.  Call the Borough Police at 609-967-3411 for more information.

State and National Resources

There are numerous help lines and websites available to assist Seniors with specific health, lifestyle, and other needs.  Websites like the Senior Center (click here) can provide useful general information, while those like the National Library Service (NLS) offer guidance for Seniors with disabilities (click here).  Directories like Eldercare (click here) and Grants for Seniors (click here) provide quick guides and links to many national and state resources.  If you or your caregivers need any specific guidance or ideas, make sure to discuss your question with friends and neighbors during the next Avalon Senior Center Organization meeting.
