Jim Thatcher is a graduate of Cornell University with a degree in Chemistry and an MBA from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell. During his business career, he was involved in marketing and business development in the chemical industry; after which he then followed up with several years as a business consultant.
The Thatcher family have been in Avalon for almost 70 years and Jim has made Avalon his home for the past 20 years. Now retired, Jim enjoys volunteering his time at the Avalon Library as treasurer as well as at AHLOA. He has been a long-standing member of AHLOA serving as an officer as well as performing a myriad of other important duties. Jim is a quiet individual; but when he speaks, everyone listens. His monthly reports about the library’s 5-star activities are informative and his experience on construction related matters is invaluable. He is a real “go to guy” for AHLOA business.
Eileen Donovan has been a member of AHLOA for over three years. During her tenure, it has been her task to provide the speakers/programs which we all enjoy and learn from each month. As a college graduate with a BS in Healthcare Administration as well as being an RN and an EMT, Eileen has utilized her education as an elementary school teacher, a nurse, a research scientist and lastly as a manager in the pharmaceuticals industry from which she retired. In her free time, Eileen enjoys her civic interests as well as the performing arts, but her greatest joy is being a mother of two and a grandmother of three. Eileen’s smile and warm personality are always appreciated by the entire AHLOA team.
