  • AHLOA extends a BIG thank you to Brian Reynolds for his 20 years of leadership of the Avalon Environmental Commission.  Brian has decided to step down as Chairperson of the Commission.  The Mayor has appointed Donna Rothman as Brian’s replacement.  Brian, thank you for your service!!!

  • The Environmental Commission has scheduled a Dune Grass Planting event on October 25th with a rain date of October 26th.  10,000 stolons have been secured and this event can be completed safely and with proper social distancing.  To register for this event, please contact Sue Keen at 609-967-5924 by October 20th.

  • Cape May County is updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP). The HMP, highlighted in the Mayor’s presentation, will analyze the hazards faced by the county and its municipalities, residents, and businesses, and will identify a strategy for minimizing vulnerability to these hazards.  AHLOA encourages members to provide input to the planning process. The County has developed a survey to assist in providing the public an outlet to contribute to the HMP update. This survey will be used to develop portions of the HMP.  To participate you can complete the survey here.

  • If you have completed the 2020 Census for your Avalon property, thank you!  All Avalon property owners – full-time and seasonal residents – are encouraged to complete the 2020 census.  The census requests a response for every property, including seasonal homes.  For more information please visit the 2020 Census link.  You will note that census guidelines indicate that if you split time evenly throughout the year between your Avalon property and another residence – regardless of your legal permanent residence -- count yourself where you were staying on April 1, 2020.  Your participation helps Avalon and Cape May County be accurately represented when applying for federal programs, funds and grants.

  • Stay connected and receive urgent updates and emergency alerts affecting Avalon.  The Borough of Avalon participates in CodeRED, a reverse-911 alert service originated by Borough Emergency Management officials. If you are not currently receiving these alert calls, please visit the link here to register whether or not you have registered in the past. Receive all the necessary updates to protect yourself and you Avalon property!
