The Borough of Avalon has announced a community paper shredding day and a second bulk trash collection in September. The paper shredding event will be held on Monday, September 7th (Labor Day) between the hours of 9:00 am-2:00 pm. Please bring your paper to be shredded to the Avalon Department of Public Works’ 15th Street entrance, located just east of Dune Drive.
The second and final community bulk trash collection will be held on September 14th. Items may be placed curbside from September 4th through September 13th. Please do not place items curbside earlier as storm events may put some of this trash into the street. Construction and remodeling materials are never collected by the Borough of Avalon at any time.
Reminders: Avalon maintains a courtesy trash and recyclable drop off center located at the Department of Public Works’ 15th Street entrance. Is is open daily between the hours of 7:00 am-3:00 pm. If you are leaving Avalon before your scheduled trash collection day, please consider dropping your trash/recyclables off at the center. Please do not place plastic bags in your recycle cans. Plastic bags cannot be processed by the Cape May County MUA and contaminate the recycle can, resulting in the recyclables placed into the general trash stream. Finally, twice a week trash collection in Avalon will end on Saturday, September 12th. For more details, please visit the Public Works Department website.
