Borough Council: April 13th

Council met on Wednesday April 13, 2022. At the meeting the following issues were addressed:

  1. Council President Barbara Juvaitis led a brief moment of silence in memory of former Council member and twice Council president Joseph Tipping who has died. They offered condolences to his family and friends.

  2. A resolution was approved authorizing a person-to-person transfer of the Retail Consumption License No 0501-33-004-003 to 24th Street, LLC, This is the license that belonged to Jack’s Place.

  3. Avalon has contracted with Professional Cleaning Services of NJ, LLC of Mullica Hill, Nj for custodial cleaning services in Borough facilities

  4. Council authorized a contract with Mount Construction for a Spring 2022 beach back passing operation fin the amount of $677,431

  5. Police Chief Jeffrey Christopher addressed the May 7, 2022 Public Auction which will include property recovered/collected for which no owner has been identified

  6. The Borough is working to obtain a ten year umbrella dredging permit. Until now each dredging project required an individual permit which was costly and time consuming. When an agreement is worked out it will enable the Borough to address emergency dreading operations immediately and allow individual slip owners to do the same.

  7. Council approved a resolution awarding a contract to Bay Atlantic Symphony for a 4th of July concert at Surfside Park
