Council held their regularly scheduled sessions on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 and addressed the following topics:
The Mayor administered the oath of office to newly appointed police officer Kyle Roscoe. Officer Roscoe is the son of Avalon's retired Police Captain John Roscoe and graduated from the Police Academy on January 13, 2023.
Borough Administrator Scott Wahl reported that Beach Patrol Director Matt Wolf is encouraged by the recruiting for the upcoming summer season and expects to be fully staffed. Current plans are to have the same protected beaches for summer 2023 as in 2022.
The dewatering process for the construction of new swimming pools and a related proposed ordinance were discussed. In addition to providing for and monitoring 60-day dewatering, standards for the sediment bags will be stipulated
A meeting was held on the morning of February 8th to update the community on the hydraulic beach fill. Beach surveys have started and equipment will be moved from Ocean City to Avalon in early March. The actual fill will begin on or about March 20th.
