Borough Council: March 22

Council held the regularly scheduled session on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 and addressed the following topics:

  1. Council discussed the implementation of credit card payments for beach tag purchases.  Both the Community Hall kiosk and the Borough Hall office will have the capability to accept credit cards.  The additional cost will be passed on to the purchaser.

  2. The County will be resurfacing Ocean Drive between 62nd and 80th Streets during the period from 3/26 to 4/7.  Expect road closures and detours during this period.

  3. A resolution was approved renewing the Borough's contract with Coastal Communications.  This provides the Borough with the ability to advertise special events to the community.

  4. An ordinance is being developed to codify restricted areas within public buildings in Avalon.  This is needed to protect private and personal information.

  5. The hydraulic beach fill has once again been delayed.  Equipment had to be repaired before being moved to Avalon.  The tentative start date is now sometime between April 5th and 15th, but may change again.

  6. A resolution was approved for the Lions Club to conduct a 50/50 raffle.
