Latest Avalon Happenings

During these unsettling times, AHLOA’s role is to provide our members with the most up to date information.  As your Community Connection, here are several items of interest.

 Wetlands Institute

On May 15th, 16th and 17th, The Wetlands Institute will hold its fifth annual native perennial plant sale.  We have selected a beautiful array of plants that will bloom throughout the season and provide all the various food resources that butterflies, songbirds, hummingbirds, and pollinators need to thrive.  Native plantings are good for the environment because they are drought resistant and conserve water once established.

This year the Wetlands Institute is offering curbside pickup and/or local delivery of plants to 7 Mile Island and Middle Township so that you can receive your plants safely and responsibly.  More information and order forms are available here.

 Avalon Police Department

Patrolman Kenneth Walker from the Lower Township Police Department was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. The Avalon Police Department is sponsoring a fundraiser to assist him with medical expenses not covered by insurance.

The Avalon Police Department will display these ribbons on their uniforms during the month of May. All departments are encouraged to participate.

If anyone would like to receive a ribbon pin or sponsor an officer to wear theirs, please complete the attached form. With any donation you will receive a ribbon pin which can be worn during the month of May. Thank you in advance!

All donations must be made either by Cash or Check made out to the Borough of Avalon with "donation for Police Department" in the note section of the check.

The donation form can be found on the Avalon Police Department’s Facebook page.

The Avalon Chamber of Commerce and 7MBCA

During this Covid19 pandemic everyone’s priorities are rightfully where they should be, the health and well-being of family, loved ones and friends.

Who would have thought, at the beginning of March 2020, that ‘Indulge in Avalon:Shop.Dine. Relax’ would be replaced by, shelter-in-place, face masks and social distancing?

We would like to let our property owners and vacationers know that Avalon, though virtual, is ‘OPEN’.

Retail shops and eateries through their social media sites and the telephone are ‘OPEN’ for business. Many are offering merchandise discounts, gift certificates and free shipping, while, eateries offer curbside pickup and free delivery.

Please go to Chamber website and click on COVID-19 UPDATE to read all that businesses are offering. The web site is being updated daily with information. Please ‘Like’ and ‘Share’ the Facebook page - Avalon Chamber of Commerce & 7MBCA and click on ‘POSTS’ to see on-going business updates, and ‘Follow’ us on Instagram at Avalon beach.

Though “Indulge in Avalon: Shop.Dine.Relax’ may only be ‘virtual’ at this time, we are ‘OPEN’ for you and look forward to seeing you this summer.

We are continuing to use the “Did You Know” feature on our website, posts our Facebook page, direct e-mail communication through Constant Contact and the quarterly Newsletter to keep all of our members informed.

Be well and stay safe!
