Scott Wahl - November 10th Presentation and Q&A
Avalon Business Administrator/Public Information Officer Scott Wahl was the guest speaker at the AHLOA monthly meeting held on Saturday, November 10th. Scott presented all of the major capital initiatives underway within the Borough, reviewed major activities affecting Avalon in the coming months (e.g. Townsend’s Inlet Bridge), and then fielded a significant number of questions from the full-house audience following his formal presentation. Feedback from the attendees was quite strong given the wide-range of pertinent and timely information that Scott was able to convey. His presentation is available at the link below.
Borough of Avalon -- AAA Bond Rating
The Borough of Avalon has maintained its decade-long AAA bond rating from Standard and Poor’s and Moody’s, the highest rating offered by the financial services. The Borough received its most recent AAA rating confirmation letter last month.
2018 was an outstanding financial year for the Borough. Avalon has the lowest municipal tax rate in Cape May County with a rate of 19.9 cents per $100 of assessed valuation. And, Avalon has the lowest overall tax rate of any community in the State of New Jersey at 48.8 cents. The overall tax rate includes municipal, library, county, school and open space taxes.

AHLOA Donates $1,000 to Festive Friday
AHLOA made a $1,000 donation towards the costs associated with the annual Avalon Festive Friday celebration the day after Thanksgiving. Dates for all Thanksgiving Day weekend activities are posted on the Borough’s website at the link below.
Construction Begins Late October for Avalon’s New Surfside Park
Construction is expected to begin on Monday, October 22nd on a major new addition to the Borough of Avalon’s recreational facilities. Surfside Park, a brand new park with abundant green space and a new playground, will be constructed adjacent to the Avalon boardwalk at 30th Street. The Borough of Avalon was the recipient of a $2 million grant from the Cape May County Open Space Program, the proceeds of which will be directed to the development of the Park.
