Council held their regularly scheduled sessions on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 and addressed the following topics:
Council discussed and approved a resolution for Change Orders 2 & 3 for the Avalon Fire Department Additions and Renovations. This order was necessary due to discoveries during construction, and to comply with building codes for the HVAC system and roof work.
The bid for trash and waste removal is being award to Pinelands. The contract will be implemented in January 2023 and will include side of the house return of trash cans. The president of PInelands briefed Council. Avalon will be the ninth municipality that the company will be serving so they have plenty of experience.
Plans are still being made to distribute standardized trash cans to Avalon properties with a goal of implementation around Mother's Day 2023.
There was discussion of a proposed agreement and Deed of Easement for Thomas Welsh Builders for the property at 397 20th Street. This property has previously been cited for code violations. The developer will commit to rectifying these violations with plans to build two duplexes on the site.
Mott MacDonald advised that three projects on South Ocean Drive are scheduled to start during September. They include: (i) the pump station project in the vicinity of 78th Street; (ii) a county project to improve Ocean Drive from 62nd to 80th Streets; (iii) and water and sewer placement in the vicinity of 75th Street and Ocean Drive.
