Council held the regularly scheduled sessions on Wednesday, August 9, 2023. The following issues of interest were addressed:
Mr. Josepy Reilly addressed Council, on behalf of Windward Harbor Complex. He questioned the current $40.00 per month fee for two dumpsters at the condo complex, an increase versus the system in place under the prior trash and recycling contractor. Condo complexes with 5 or more units are being charged on the same basis as Windward Harbor.
The purchase of a John Deere Cab tractor for beach raking was discussed. The Borough currently has two in operation, but one is 14 years old, is unreliable, and needs to be replaced.
Two construction office workers, Amanda Seltzer and Aaron Sholer, have been awarded certifications for their efforts.
There will be a public meeting at Borough Hall on August 15th at 3:00 PM regarding the Class III status maintained by the Borough for flood insurance.
The Avalon Home and Landowners Association will host its annual member's meeting at Community Hall on Saturday, August 12. Mayor John McCorristin will present a State of the Borough report and field written audience questions. Doors open at 8:30 AM for refreshments, with the formal session starting at 9:00 AM.
