Council held the regularly scheduled sessions on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. The following issues of interest were addressed:
Ed Kennedy addressed Council requesting that the liquor license for 24th Street LLC (Black Cactus Restaurant) be made permanent. He provided a progress report on construction and plans to open by Memorial Day.
Council was advised that the police department wants approval to hire Class 1 and II officers. The nominees are Charles Wells, Matthew Dufield, and Nathan Adelin.
Business Manager Scott Wahl and CFO Jim Craft gave an overview of Avalon's $35.8 million dollar budget for the coming year. The overview is available on the record of the meeting found on the Borough's website and the detailed budget is also under Avalon News. There will be NO increase in Municipal Taxes for Avalon Property Owners.
Arbor Day will be celebrated on April 28th by the Environmental Commission and the Avalon Garden Club.
