Borough Council: April 24

Council held the regularly scheduled sessions on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. The following issues of interest were addressed:

  1. The Police Department will conduct the annual auction of abandoned and unclaimed property items on May 11, 2024.  Auction consists mostly of bicycles and a couple of paddle boards and kayaks.  Details can be found on the Borough website.

  2. Council approved the hiring of professional services in order to protect specific plovers and red knots from any impact from the planned beach replenishment project.

  3. Several bids were received for the replenishment of the North end beaches.  After verifying past performance, it was decided to award the $350,000 bid to YUSI.

  4. Replacement of the HVAC system in Community Hall has been completed early.

  5. Council approved the amending of an ordinance placing a surcharge on quarterly water and sewage billing
