Council held the regularly scheduled sessions on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. The following issues of interest were addressed:
The annual financial audit has been completed. No errors were found and no corrective action is required.
The Borough has signed a shared services agreement with Cape May County for snow removal on County roads within the Borough. This includes all of Ocean Drive and Avalon Boulevard to the west end of the big bridge where Middle Township begins. The Borough will be compensated on an hourly basis. This is a trial program.
The Borough has appointed a designated employee representative in compliance with requirements of the US Department of Transportation. Responsibilities of appointee will include monitoring of drug and alcohol programs. John Rasco of Public Works has been appointed as the primary with Kevin Scarpa as the back up.
Property Owner Martha Wright requested information regarding the planned use of the the Borough-owned lot where the former school/library were located and have been demolished. There are currently plans to do some landscaping on the lot and to provide limited parking for special events only. There are no plans to create a permanent parking lot.
